Research Grant Acquisition Unit

Introduction

The Research Grant Acquisition Unit (or Unit Perolehan Geran Penyelidikan) of Research Management Centre (RMC), Institute of Research Management and Innovation (IRMI), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is formed especially to promote, manage and administer international and private research grants in UiTM.


International Grant includes any research grants (not inclusive of honorarium or fee paid to grant recipient for professional services) approved, apportioned and remitted from abroad by international bodies, organization, foundations, agencies, or researchers outside Malaysia to UiTM researchers for research activities conducted in UiTM.
Private Grant is funding (not inclusive of honorarium or fee paid to grant recipient for professional services) provided directly by private entities including privatized Malaysian government bodies and agencies, Malaysian government-linked bodies, Malaysian non-governmental private foundations, and business entities, companies and industries incorporated in Malaysia to UiTM researchers for research activities conducted in UiTM.

 

Functions and Services

The main functions of this unit is to research, identify and disseminate funding opportunities from international and private research grant sources amongst UiTM researchers, to provide administrative and technical support to grant applicants with regard to their applications wherever required or needed, and to manage fund remittance and expenditure, if applicable.
We provide the following services in relation to the main pre- and post-award functions listed above:


1.    Dissemination of Call / Request for Proposals of international and private grants via (i) primary channels: official UiTM email and advertisement on RMC’s website, (ii) auxiliary channels:  announcement on WhatsApp group for MeTPI members and formal letters to Deputy Deans and Deputy Rectors (PI).
2.    Organization of grant briefing sessions and proposal preparation workshops.
3.    Assessment of research proposals for select international and private grants (if and as required).
4.    Assistance for preparation and legal scrutiny of Research Agreement, Memorandum of Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding pertinent to international and private grants.
5.    Submission of hard copies of research proposals to the office of the fund provider and related record keeping.
6.    Project registration at iRES in tandem with receipt of grant offer letter.
7.    Management of fund remittance, receipt and expenditure.
